Effective Instruction in World Languages, 7–12

Designed by author John DeMado, Effective Instruction in World Languages links the most current language acquisition theories to hands-on classroom practice. This one-day course focuses on how the human mind creates and acquires language, and the critical link between comprehensible input, vocabulary, and literacy in any given language. For schools using Holt McDougal World Language programs, connections will be made to the materials.

  • Reconsider the way teachers approach classroom instruction
  • Gain a full understanding of Language Acquisition Theory
  • Be able to distinguish between “mastery” instruction and instruction that encourages “proficiency”
  • Understand the link between “Comprehensible Input”, “Vocabulary Acquisition”, and “Literacy” in a given language
